Who We Are

Mom Your Business mission is to promote poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship primarily by equipping Black and Brown women with the tools, resources, opportunities and capital necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve social and economic success. We serve the Mid-Atlantic region with a primary focus on Philadelphia.
Mom Your Business started in response to the frustration of Black women being the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs yet the least funded.
MYB has transformed the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Philadelphia by (1) partnering with entrepreneurial support organizations, CDFI’s and corporations to help Black female entrepreneurs access over $250,000 in non-diluted capital in less than 18-months (2) Helping over 600 Black female entrepreneurs since 2019 start and grow their business. (3) in 2021 leading the only business accelerator program in Philadelphia by Black women for Black women.
Led by current CEO Tanya T. Morris, Tanya T. brings over twenty years of non-profit management experience at PathwaysPA, ECA and WORC to Mom Your Business along with being a serial entrepreneur. We are unique because we were founded and led by Black women entrepreneurs. “Mom Your Business’ Founders to Funders program gave me exactly what I was looking for; community. A safe space for me to share what I was going through and get the support I needed to keep going.” Jazmine Luff, The Frosting Lounge.

History

From Mother’s Day to a Movement

Mom Your Business began by hosting a Mother’s Day weekend event featuring a screening of the film Dream Girl about female entrepreneurs in New York. The event featured a panel discussion, a live all girl band, resources, and more. At the urging of a friend, Tanya T. decided to explore what Mom Your Business could become.

She continued hosting events including workshops for non-profit organizations, marketing, business model canvas and the Think Tank mastermind group.

Later launching a podcast, partnering with local and national organizations, Mom Your Business has become an advocate, resource, and connector for Black/Brown female entrepreneurs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
