Mom Your Business Pathway

FindYourTribe

A guide for early stage businesses

You're not testing the waters—you're swimming. But when it comes to funding, genuine connections, contracts, and real opportunities to scale, something's still missing. This guide is here to help you move with clarity, build the right connections, and stay ready for what's next.

Chapter 1: Be Seen. Be Ready.

In the Room: A Guide to Strategic Visibility & Business Access

Visibility isn't vanity—it's strategy.
If people don't know who you are, what you do, or how to work with you—they can't help you grow. Visibility isn't just about being on a flyer or getting press. It's about clarity, consistency, and connection.

💡 Ask Yourself:

  • Is my brand/message clear to someone who just met me?
  • What rooms am I consistently showing up in—and are they the right ones?
  • Am I relying on social media alone to tell my story?
  • Who is already talking about me (or could be)?
  • Where can I be more visible and more intentional?

✅ Checklist

You can track your progress in this guide by joining the FindYourTribe pathway on the home page!

  • I can explain what I do, who I help, and why it matters—clearly
  • I have a brand story or elevator pitch I'm confident in
  • My online presence reflects where I'm going, not just where I started
  • I'm actively building relationships, not just showing up at events
  • I've been featured, published, or invited to speak—or I have a plan to be

Chapter 2: Bring Your Own Chair

Access is Power. Strategy Makes it Count.

Deals happen in quiet rooms. Relationships are built at tables where no one looks like you. It's not about who you know—it's who knows you, and what you're ready to do once you're in the door.

💡 Ask Yourself:

  • Who's in the rooms I want to be in?
  • Who's already in my corner—but I haven't activated them?
  • Where do I need to grow visibility and credibility?
  • What's my plan when I meet the right person?
  • What introductions would move my business forward?

✅ Checklist

  • I can clearly state what I offer and who it's for
  • I have a follow-up plan after key meetings or introductions
  • I've identified 2–3 new customer segments
  • I have a one-pager or capability statement ready
  • I track partnerships, investors, and leads

Chapter 3: Grow Through Certification

Credibility Creates Access.

Certifications like WBE, MBE, and DBE open doors to contracts and supplier pipelines. They don't guarantee opportunity—but they help position you for it.

💡 Ask Yourself:

  • What types of customers or contracts am I trying to attract?
  • Would certification help me get in front of those decision-makers?
  • Do I have the documentation and capacity to follow through?
  • Am I ready to show up as a certified contender?

✅ Checklist

  • I know the difference between MBE, WBE, and DBE
  • I've researched requirements for at least one certification
  • I've gathered the core documents (EIN, taxes, etc.)
  • I've watched the certification video
  • I've identified 3 potential opportunities post-certification

Chapter 4: Capital for Growth

You Need More Than Sales—You Need Strategy for Capital.

Scaling takes funding. Whether it's a grant, loan, or investment, capital is for the ready—not just the lucky.

💡 Ask Yourself:

  • If I had $25K–$100K, what would I do with it?
  • Do I understand grants vs. loans vs. investment?
  • Do I know how much capital I need?
  • What's holding me back from applying?

✅ Checklist

  • I've identified funding sources that match my business
  • I've applied for something in the last 90 days
  • I've reviewed my numbers with a trusted advisor
  • I can clearly explain how funding will help me grow
  • I'm tracking grant and pitch opportunities
